Messrs. Melka and Rolland combine their prodigious skills to create a masterful expression of Napa Valley Cabernet. This is a collaboration that brings several extremely fine terroirs together for what is, essentially, a micro-production (~100cs) of four barrels but could easily include as many as a dozen individual lots, and just as many different oak types as well. They use their years of skill of understanding how different contributing wines interact and work together to produce something exceptional from an aroma and flavor profile. The fundamental idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. In this way, the limited offering of this estate bottling is unique each vintage, while simultaneously spotlighting the finest characteristics of Napa.

"The top wine of the estate is the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, all Cabernet aged 22 months in 65% new barrels. Flirting with perfection, it’s a magical wine that offers a seamless, full-bodied, structured style as well as heavenly notes of crème de cassis and black raspberry fruit. With subtle background oak, complex floral and graphite nuances, ultra-fine tannins, and thrilling concentration, this quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will be better with short-term cellaring and cruise for 2+ decades in cooler cellars." - 1/31/2019

"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Alejandro Bulgheroni is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Dense, powerful, and explosive, the 2016 is endowed with tremendous depth. Crème de cassis, plum, new leather, licorice, dark chocolate, and sweet spice build as this dramatic, full-throttle Cabernet shows off its unctuous, bold personality. The 2016 is a real head-turner." - Dec 2018

"Aged 22 months in 65% new French oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is deep garnet-purple colored and features warm red and black plums, black berries and mulberries with touches of tobacco, earth and cedar chest. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated with chewy tannins and plenty of broody black fruit, finishing long and earthy. 200 cases produced." - 10/29/18

"The flagship is the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Alejandro Bulgheroni, a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot that spent 21 months in 77% new French oak barrels. More crème de cassis, toasted bread, graphite, chocolate, incense, and tobacco notes emerge from this stunner, which offers full-bodied richness and power paired with a weightless, elegant texture, rocking tannins, and a finish that won't quit. The tannin quality here is brilliant, as is the balance, and it's certainly one of the gems in the vintage. Give bottles 3-4 years (it can be drunk today with plenty of pleasure) and enjoy over the following 25 years or more." - 1/31/2020

"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate was picked September 25 to October 2 and was fermented in oak, concrete, stainless, and puncheon. It contains 3% Petit Verdot and was aged in 77% new French oak. Very deep garnet-purple in color, it sings effortlessly of warm black and red currants, blackberry coulis, and charcuterie with nuances of black olives, chocolate box, menthol, and fragrant earth with touches of cigar box and truffles. Full-bodied, the palate has wonderful richness and depth, with firm, super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic poise, finishing very long and very classy. 67 cases were made." - 10/31/19

"The 2017 Alejandro Bulgheroni is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar. Outrageously rich and decadent, the 2017 is magnificent, even in the early going. A rush of dark black fruit, chocolate, spice, leather, mocha and licorice build in a sumptuous and extravagantly ripe Cabernet Sauvignon that shows the house style taken to the highest level of expression. This powerful, brooding Napa Valley Cabernet is impressive, but it will be even better in another few years' time." - Jan 20

"The flagship 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Alejandro Bulgheroni comes from a selection made by winemakers Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland, mostly from Rutherford and Oakville fruit. Aged 20 months in 78% new French oak, it has incredible aromatics of black and blue fruits, spring flowers, and graphite to go with a massive, full-bodied, concentrated style on the palate that somehow stays graceful, weightless, and elegant. This tour de force in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is guaranteed to put a smile on your face over the coming 20-25+ years." - 1/27/2021
97 POINTS - The Wine Advocate
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate displays a deep purple-black color, needing a fair bit of swirling to unlock notes of cassis, wild blueberries, and stewed plums, followed by hints of sandalwood, cedar, Indian spices, and charcoal. The full-bodied palate is rich, opulent, and hedonic, featuring concentrated black fruit preserves flavors with a whole fireworks display of exotic spice sparks, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with fantastic length." - 7/30/21
97 POINTS - Vinous
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Alejandro Bulgheroni is sleek, polished, and flamboyant to the core. The top wine in this range, it offers a heady concoction of inky dark fruit, crushed raspberry, mocha, dried flowers, spice, and rose petal, all wrapped together in a stylish package that delivers the goods. The 2018 is superb." - Jan 2021
